Navteq Infonet Portal

Navteq is the world leader in satellite navigation technology providing maps for a variety of vendors, even pushing their maps out to Microsoft for their Bing Maps and Multimap websites. Navteq have teams of people to keep the maps constantly up-to-date

Navteq approached Creative Jar for a revamp of thier dealer portal, including replacement of their old flash=based banners using Microsoft's new Silverlight technology. Being a multi-national company with dealers in most European countries, the banners had to incorporate bespoke messages for each language variant in order to provide a customised solution for each nationality

Creative Jar responded with an animated solution for the generic homepage, highlighting the 3 main reasons to become an authorised Navteq dealers. Each piece of text is updateable via their CMS driven by Microsoft's SharePoint solution

1st Place Microsoft MIX:UK 08 Competition - April 2008

Having recently entered the MIX:UK 08 Silverlight Competition, Creative Jar are pleased to have come in at 1st place! The competition 'Be all you can be', by Microsoft was sent out to all developers who attended MIX07, with the requirements to build a new agenda page for MIX07. The challenge was to redesign the entire look and feel of the MIX:UK 07 agenda page - using Silverlight and your imagination.

One of our lead developer's Timothy Hustler together with designer Simon Sturgess collaborated to produce the winning piece of work.

Using the full suite of Microsoft Expression tools: Expression Design for the initial drawings, Expression Web for the static pages, with Expression Blend and Visual Studio 2008 for the agenda application.

The guys even went the extra mile and also produced the entire event site using SQL Server 2005 back end, LINQ for the data access tier, WCF Services to make the data public and finally Silverlight 2.0 for the controls, animations and client-side interaction.

This unique way of working allowed the developer and designer to work collaboratively on same project and files throughout the entire delivery meaning no translations/approximation of design and real-time interaction between departments.

Silverlight Globe

Silverlight Globe

Having created a bespoke flash animation for an interactive map for one of our clients, our developers took it upon themselves to recreate the flash in Silverlight. This globe will be used with a view to working out distances between airports, especially useful to a carbon offsetting company we're currently developing for

The proof of concept shows a smooth interactive and dynamic globe that encompasses all of the interactivity and map points (longitude and latitude) required by the client.

This is based closely on an open-source project from CodePlex called SilverGlobe. Florian Krüsch from Xaml-Kru created the original concept and is currently busy updating the project to be more user-friendly to developers. Great work so far, the genius mathematics involved are really inspired. All Props the Florian!!
